If there is such a thing as a “secret” to success in business (or life) then Clarity is it. Clarity IS the first step towards designing your ideal business. You’ll NEVER get what you really want, unless you know what that is!
Clarity, simply stated is, knowing what you really want. Once you have clarity about what it is you want in any area of your life, you can make it happen relatively quickly.
Let’s begin with a metaphor
For a moment, please imagine yourself in this situation…
You are sitting comfortably in a fancy restaurant at a table with a crisp white linen tablecloth and a bouquet of colorful fresh flowers. The tuxedoed waiter arrives and places a basket of warm rolls on the table. You can smell the warm bread as the waiter bows slightly, smiles and asks, “do you know what would you like?” You reply “I don’t really know what I want, just bring me something good.”
Soon after, the waiter proudly delivers an incredible looking Mexican dish. You look up and say, “I don’t like Mexican food, why did you bring me this? The waiter responds “you asked for something good, and this is the most popular dish we have”!
That metaphor perfectly represents how some people live their entire lives. Without ever asking for, or even knowing what specifically to ask for.
We must be able to clearly define what we want out of life to make it happen.
The truth is; we get to design our lives/business however way we choose. What have you been choosing?
Here’s an example from my own life: When I was starting out in business I owned a restaurant and I wore all the hats: Cook, bookkeeper, purchasing, HR, sales, cleaning, management, etc. After a couple of years I began to resent the business and felt unhappy. I couldn’t understand why I was so unhappy because I was making good money and the business was successful, but I felt like a trapped animal. Clarity was the first step for improving my situation. In this instance, I was more aware of what I didn’t want, than what I did want, so I utilized the Law of Polarity: Everything has a complete opposite. My problem was that I felt “trapped”. What is the opposite of being trapped? “Freedom”! I wanted more freedom. Awakened by this clarity, I devised a plan to restructure my business to allow me the freedom I needed. It didn’t take long before everything came together and I had the business and life of my dreams.
The story above sounds quick, easy and simple. Truth is, it took me two years of being miserable before I actually took action to change it. We entrepreneurs are a tough bunch - we’ll take a lot of misery and just accept it. I’m here to tell you, you don’t need to operate that way - there is a better way - I found it, and it improved my life and business dramatically! You deserve to live the life of your dreams - this is not a dress rehearsal! I can help!
When you are ready to take the first step toward your ideal life, here are some tips to help you get started….
Step 1:
Evaluate where you are NOW in the main areas of your life: Business, Health; Relationships with spouse, friends, family; your role or position, your success, your accomplishments; Your Personal Growth; Your Spiritual Growth.
Step 2:
Define your ideal situation or dream business: Decide exactly what it is you want. Remember the main thing to think about is what do you want to get out of the business. What are your personal and professional objectives?
Step 3: Commit your vision into writing - you now have the foundation on which to build purposeful goals and start making things happen.
Once you complete these exercises you will have some Clarity on what you want to order for your life (remember the restaurant scenario). Then, you can begin to develop a plan to make it happen!
