The Next Generation of Sales Superstars

I had the distinct pleasure of being a mentor last week for my company’s Career Day. This is a day when about 20 aspiring college seniors visit our facilities and learn about sales careers with our company. It was an eye opening experience. Young people that actually want to, and have studied to become Sales Professionals?!?!?! I was flabbergasted. And these were no average students. They displayed all of the traits that will make them superstars in the field they have chosen; great communication skills, sharp dressers, well groomed, energetic, great questions…it was wonderful to see.
I didn’t attend college until I was in my thirties. I still do not have a degree. I have focused my learning on the profession of sales, deciding not to go for a general degree, but to increase my earning power by becoming a true Sales Professional. I have invested hundreds of hours reading and listing to audio programs that have honed my skills. This has worked for me, however, I wouldn’t suggest it in every situation. My lack of a degree has made my climb to the top longer and somewhat more difficult.
Because I worked my way up through selling, starting door to door and now selling high dollar large ticket items, I forget that there are thousands of college seniors just like the ones I mentored each year that make a conscious decision to go into a career in sales. I sort of stumbled into sales, as many people do. I knew I wanted to sell, but wasn’t sure how to be successful or where to start. Hence the door to door selling. Not that it was a bad thing. It was actually a great job. I learned to sell on the fly, build report quickly and close a sale.
To think that there are young people in college that make a career decision to become Sales Professionals before they graduate, even early in their college careers, elates me. That is one of the reasons I developed this site. I want to help those currently in the profession of sales be the best they can be, earn the most they can earn and have as much fun as possible doing it. The added benefit of being able to equip the next generation of Sales Superstars makes all of the effort put into this site worth while.
Are you one of those young, aspiring, not so experienced future Sales Superstars? Come back to the site often. Read the posts. Go to our resources page and order just one sales program. The investment in your chosen career will pay off one hundred fold in the years to come. Sign up for our email newsletter. Never stop learning. Leave me a comment and let me know if the site is helpful or if there is anything we can do to improve the information and resources we provide for you.
Welcome! Welcome to the most fantastic career you could have chosen. We are glad that you have decided to become Sales Professionals. It will not be easy. Nothing worth while ever is. Never waiver. Push to be the best and you will be.

Hi, I am a 20 year old full time college student and full time Life Insurance Agent with Monumental Life. I love it! Sales is hard to some people because, like you say, they don’t take the time to learn the proffession of sales. Most of my co-workers are double my age and have been in the Life Insurance industry for a decade or more. I love it especially because I work directly with the 3rd agent (out of 2000) in the company. Sales IS for everyone, its just who will find the right company, product, and get the right sales education. (also working with good people is a plus).
